In summary, the procedure is available to be called from other programs. 
Commonly done in service programs and the genre.

For example, if you have a subprocedure called CalcTheTotalSale and you 
EXPORTed that (and did the right binding) then you could use that in other 
programs.  If the subprocedure is only used internally to the module from 
which it is created then you don't need to  export it.

As baby steps the first time I tried an old RPG/400 CALL on a subprocedure 
that was larger than 10 characters I was baffled.  That's when I first 
used CALLB and now CALLP.
