Let me guess, you have to do this using RPG/400 and not RPGLE, too, right? 
 If you do have this silly restriction, can you at least CALL a RPGLE 
program?  Two parameters; one is the date and the other is a logical 
good/bad.

         GoodDate='1';
         MyDate=%date(mychar:*iso0);
         On-error;
           GoodDate='0';
           CleanJobLog();
       ENDMON;
