I think you mean TESTN not TEST(N), but not TEST(DE) works fine.

Is TEST(D) as bad as TEST(N)?  Many times people have tried to use TEST(N) 
to test if a value was numeric only to find out that a string like '0123B' 
may be a valid number because of the way IBM handles a negative sign. 
While that may be true, that's not the function the developer was hoping 
for.
