No one ever gets leading blanks on a command string.  Therefore you're 
hurting performance with %trim for something that doesn't happen.  Well, 
if it ever happened I suspect that in 99.99% of the cases where QCMDEXC is 
used it would happen each and every time and would get fixed right quick. 
Therefore use the varying length string and avoid %trim altogether.
