Ha ha :) But it's not really a macro language--more a simple  
substitution facility.

My guess is that they (Rochester) don't need it, insufficient  
customers have requested it, and it can (for the most part) be  
determined automatically so why provide yet another parameter on an  
already busy interface?

Interestingly, macro language support is exactly how it's done in the  
PL/MI system code. The Rochester Macro Processor as I recall.  
Something like:

	?SNDPMSG MSG(CPF1234) MSGF(QCPFMSG) MSGLIB(QSYS) MSGTYPE(ESCAPE)

RMP was (is) a proper macro language. I don't know what they use for  
non-PL/MI code.

Proper macro support in RPG IV would be nice.
