An AFPDS spooled file (with overlays or page segments) can be viewed with 
iSeries Navigator>Basic Operations>Printer Output

The ovrprtf command will let you specify an overlay (front and back if doing 
duplex) and position on page
or
in DDS  Printer file , something like this which is an AR Stmt form, a logo, 
and a credit card payment form. There are other parms to these stmts, found 
in the
DDS manual for printer files.
If I'm trying to "see" the report, especially on a remote system, I'd 
convert the afpds spool to a pdf and email it as an attachment.

A             R  OVERLAY1                 OVERLAY(ARSTMT 0.0 0.0)
A             R  LOGO                          PAGESEG(LOGO1 0.0 0.4)
A             R  CCFORM1                  PAGESEG(CCFORM 5.20 2.13 +
