That's more interesting to me, so programs CAN be called recursively?

Yes, in general, any program can be called recursively. As far as I know it's only RPG that doesn't allow it. Even for RPG, the recursive call gets started, but the RPG compilers generate some code to check whether the "invoked" flag is on, and if so, signal a recursive-call exception to the caller, which immediately ends the call.
