Gone...which is what IBM is trying to do with this product's interactive
workload. Perhaps IBM is moving to convert this product into a database
server. Maybe there's a secret IBM development effort that's building a
cross-platform UI front-end development tool, thereby locking IBM customers
into small i's, big i's, Z's, various PowerPC servers, and of course the
cloud...anything but Windows.

I have found SDA to be an exceptionally fast and
productive development tool and there's zero reason to kill it. RDi is
slow in everything: when you're on a VPN (even with an 800 mBPS internet
connection) working on an SQL program, response time is terrible thanks to
the need to syntax-check SQL at the host. If IBM wants to kill products,
fine...but they'd better have something as good or better to replace it.

Sigh.

Nope. No way. Not going to happen. It is dead. Not only is that

Gone. Permanently.
IBM announced they WERE going to do it.
Then, with 7.6, they did do it.

Rob, I think the last word on this has not yet been spoken.

<snip>
Hope IBM continue SDA in the PDM with option 17 - no has no sense to remove
it, too many users.

Hi,

I used SDA as report designer as well, SRU is horrible. For me are these
RDi
tools no option. Not usable.

Hello Brian,

For many years the Screen Designer and Report Designer tools within RDi
have been much better options for generating the DDS than SDA and RLU.
(Just
my opinion.)

Some people use SDA not for designing screens (which is cumbersome,
IMHO),
but as "SPA" (Screen Preview Agent), through PDM option 17. I'm one of
those. RDI is not an option for me.

:wq! PoC
