Hi,

This is an update on PMR# 08256,442,000

Okay, I installed a FRESH new version of RDi 9.6.0.1 on my 10-year old desktop, which still works. And it has windows 10!

So, on this brand new install, I was able to open the member, approx. 63-lines, with the Error with NO PROBLEMS!
Sadly, this indicates a problem on my co-worker's Laptop. Since it works on my desktop with the brand new RDi 9.6.0.1 install.

The program is very short, but since it is the old /free starting in punch-card column-08. I notice that it had a missing /end-free. But, my install of RDI 9.6.0.1 was able to open the Trouble-Member with NO PROBLEM!

I see the dreaded "NullPointerException" in my co-worker Error log. My co-worker, whom works remotely, approximately 6-hours away. And I had just done a complete CLEAN re-install of RDI 9.6.0.1 on their Laptop. So, I was REALLY shock, when unable to open a source member!

So, I was then "forced" to install the older RDi 9.5, and that was able to open the member with NO ISSUES.
But RDi 9.6.0.1 failed! <Puzzled-Look>

Now, this laptop is using Windows-7, not windows 10.

I cannot help but to think that their might be a possible problems with their windows-7. It a much older laptop. But, RDi 9.5 works great!!!
But not RDi 9.6.0.1. At least on this trouble Member. Their request for a new laptop was turned down. <sad face>

So, here some of the errors in my co-workers Error Log:

!ENTRY org.eclipse.jface 4 0 2018-03-09 16:12:52.347
!MESSAGE Error notifying a preference change listener. Check the log for details.
!STACK 0
java.lang.NullPointerException
at com.ibm.debug.pdt.codecoverage.ui.internal.launch.CodeCoverageLastHandler.update(CodeCoverageLastHandler.java:120)
... And more.

The complete error log was sent to IBM on the PMR...

Still very puzzling to me. My co-worker is a HUGE RDi Fan. Loved RDI on Day-one! And said, "Where has this been all my life!". <paraphrased>. So, this was disappointing to me, which is why I reported this to IBM on a PMR. My co-worker has been using RDI for 8-years, so not a newbie...

Subject: [WDSCI-L] RDI 9.6.0.1 unable to open 63-lines source

Co-worker using RDI 9.6.0.1 was able to start...

Gave up with my co-worker, and finally did a complete uninstall, remove folders. And then do a brand new install...

They were unable to open a 63-line RPGLE program! Ridiculous!!!

So, had to install RDi 9.5, so they could edit code again!!!

Open PMR: 08256,442,000 RDI 9.6.0.1 New Install, unable to open member.

And to think this Developer was so happy to have RDi 9.6 again, and it is "SHOW-STOPPER", when you cannot open a member. But, you install the old version RDi 9.5, and it can open the member...

Quality control definitely needs improvement...

PS. I was able to open with RDi 9.6.0.1 with test-fix March-06, but that the install of the fix pack is not simple.
