The web server supports three methods of authorising users to resources in a
realm.  You can use AS/400 profiles in which case you need do nothing other
than create the *USRPRF objects.  You can also use Access Control Lists
(ACL) or validation lists (which I think are the best method).

IBM provide a set of APIs that allow you to manage validation lists.  They
are described in the Security section of the API manual.  I think ACLs are
just IFS files so IFS I/O can be used for those.

However, we have just announced ONcmd (TM) which is a command line method of
managing validation lists and other functions. You can
add/change/remove/work with validation lists and validation list entries.
The User Guide and a 30-day trial copy can be downloaded from
http://www.flybynight.com.au   It costs approximately $990 US dollars (you
couldn't write it for that amount!)

ONcmd also allows you to manage NetServer.  You can add/change/remove/work
with shares, change server attributes, etc.

ONcmd also lets you manage TCP servers, HOST servers, HTTP servers
(including the instances and configurations), etc.  You can do all this
from a comand line or menu which is how the AS/400 should be managed!
