RE: Client Access ODBC Driver error -- WEB400

I will never understand the need for a unique key for IBMs ODBC driver to
work. Given a sql statement of

update item set price = price * 1.1 where class = 'ABC'

Maybe someone can explain why in the world you'd need a unique key to do
this? Or even

Update item set price = 1.3 where itemno = 12345

Itemno may be unique, but then again maybe not, why does IBM's ODBC driver
care?

Hi Sushama,

If this just started happening, these suggestions may not be helpful, but
just in case:

1) verify that your ODBC connection allows updates
2) verify that this connection specifies a file on the AS/400 that has a
unique key (I've been bitten by this one more than once! ;-)
3) test another update to see if the problem is just with this statement or
if it is more general . . .
