Honestly, for most situations the only advantage is being
able to say "I'm using apache..."

Speed is equal or maybe a little slower.

Configuration is more complicated.

It does seem to fix the error that Classic users have had
with the HTTP server just stopping taking requests.

It does seem to have a weird error with CGI that supposedly
PTFs were supposed to fix.  It's not a big problem, just
fills up the job logs with warnings that meant nothing.
(pointer parameter or something).

I'm "beta" testing it on my BVSTools site and so far it's
working fine, except for that pointer error that fills the
job log.

It boils down to preference.
