This is a very good remark, especially "if you truly do want READC."  READC
exists because the 5250 data stream supports the modified data tag;
something which is alien to HTML.  The point being that trying to fit a
5250-specific idea into HTML may not be the best route to take if you want
your app to look webbish (whatever THAT means.)

As background, the number one comment I get on my WebFaced app is that it
looks just like the green screen.  And the people saying that are not being
complimentary.
