I'm not aware of a word to html conversion on the fly, especially with all
you can do inside Word. I imagine there is one somewhere.
Putting a link to the file in your html, and the file (ending in .doc) on
your server (like in the ifs) and the user clicking on the link, will cause
the user's pc to open the doc with Word (as long as the pc file types
setting says to open ".doc" with Word. The same way a .pdf can be opened by
Acrobat Reader (which is far more 'web standard' than Word).
Are these Word docs changing often?
Do they have have lots of formatting?
Also - MS Word save as has the options to save a document as ".html" instead
of ".doc" so you could save your docs as .html on the ifs, then read them
in via rpgle (if yours is an rpg/cgi site-it's like reading a text file).
The MS Word html is huge. I did a 3 line document, with 3 font sizes and got
this...
<html xmlns:o="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"
xmlns:w="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word"
xmlns="http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40";>
