I don't understand what you're talking about, Karl.  Unless you have a
very small machine, WebSphere Express runs fine, and it only costs about
$2000, I think.

Starting with V5R2 (I think, may just be V5R3), Express is free.

Also, some of the new i5's are priced pretty competitively with Wintel/Unix 
based server class systems (you have to include software costs such as 
database, web servers, and WebSphere to be fair in the comparison) as long as 
you don't to add interactive CPW to them (IBM still charges a bunch for that).
