I haven't used this ADODB method of connection before, but I connect a lot with ADO.NET... in your connection string, what does "Provider" represent? I guess what I'm wondering is whether or not this is like a data source name that has to be registered, or created somewhere else onthe run-time system? Also, what are you seeing in debug that lets you know that's where the problem is? The list strips attachments, so your Word doc is not available... -- Joel Cochran http://www.rpgnext.com http://www.ihocquery.com On 2/22/06, Thomas <thomasburrows@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > Does anyone have any experience per what DATA LINK properties should be > configured on the Visual.NET IDE to connect back to an iSeries. > > I have this Code. > > ============================================== > > Public Class Form1 > > > > Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As > System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load > > Dim conn As New ADODB.Connection > Dim rs As New ADODB.Recordset > Dim cmd As New ADODB.Command > Dim stmt, stra, strb As String > Dim x As Integer > conn.Open("Provider = IBMDA400; Data Source = 144.162.90.48") > stmt = "{CALL CrossTab('SPC013.FILEA', '''Year'' || YEAR','ITEM', > 'SALES')}" > > rs.Open(stmt, conn) > > stra = "" > For x = 0 To rs.Fields.Count - 1 > stra = stra & " " & rs.Fields(x).Name > Next > Debug.Print(stra) > > Do Until rs.EOF > strb = "" > For x = 0 To rs.Fields.Count - 1 > strb = strb & " " & rs.Fields(x).Value > Next > rs.MoveNext() > Debug.Print(strb) > Loop > End Sub > > > > End Class > > > ============================================= > > Debugging tells us the problem is in the "CONN.OPEN".
