Walden,

Understand. But on the .NET driver... if you don't have V5R3 yet, how
do you get CA V5R3? Second, can you use the .NET provider against
classic .ASP as well or do I need to use two providers depending on
where the app was created?

I saw a great article in one of the latest version of iSeries Magazine
that compared the "good new/bad news" of each of the popular
environments (CGIDEV, PHP, ASP, .NET, Java/WebSphere). To me it seemed
to indicate while PHP has good features but not as robust as .NET or
Java, Java provides a feature/function RICH environment that is not
oriented to either Microsoft nor IBM but (this sounds like a good
news/bad news story), there is a steep learning curve to Java but its
best for the long-haul.

Obviously you need .NET, but FWIW, you don't need V5R3 of OS/400 for
the
.NET driver to work, you only need V5R3 of Client Access. I use the
.NET
driver against V5R2 all the time.
