At one point you could download the V5R3 version of CA -- I believe it
was back in the beta days though, don't know if it's still available. As
a side note, it's criminal that you can't download CA (at least the
non-license parts) from the web site. What's IBM afraid of, someone
might right a program that accessed the iSeries?

No, you could not use the .NET driver from "classic" ASP, but why would
you want to. Well, ok, if you had to you could make it work
(ASP->COM->.NET->.NET Driver) but there's no point. 

As far as the "popular" environments, I'd say you're very safe w/either
Java or .NET, and not so safe with the others (for the long haul --
3/5/10 years). As to which is "better" between .NET and Java, that's a
religious argument I'm not going to start. <G>
