Hope I got the right list. Lots of great information going back and forth. Thanks to everyone for all their ideas.

Wrong list. This is a general question, nothing to do with Web, therefore should be asked on Midrange-L

If iSeries number one does an FTP of a SAVE FILE to iSeries number two what seems to happen is the SAVE FILE gets put into a library on iSeries number two as a regular PF.

Because the target file doesn't exist and FTP creates a standard PF to hold the data. It doesn't know the file is a save file. It's just data

How do I get the resulting file to be a SAVE FILE on iSeries number TWO?

Two methods:
1) Change FTP to use IFS naming format and transfer the file with .savf extension
or
        2) Create the SAVF on the target system first then transfer into it

Option 1) is the best/easiest. For example:

        ftp mysystem
        uid
        pwd
        namefmt 1
        put mystuff.savf
        quit

Simon Coulter.
