You could use the BLOCK(*YES) keyword on the file specification to speed up the read of the TEMP file, however I'm sure the formatting of the HTML output is what's taking so much time - CGIDEV2 isn't very efficient at that - though I doubt that PDF formatting tools would be any better.
You could also use CGIDEV2 to generate a formatted HTML file in batch
mode, and return a hyperlink to the user. A two-step process - less
waiting.
I could send you a .zip of my SQL2STMF command which outputs the
results of an SQL select statement to a stream file in strait text,
CSV, or XML format. You could return a hyperlink to the stream file.
But that wouldn't provide break points or subtotals for the user.

Subject: [WEB400] Faster HTML Output.
I need some ideas. We are currently using CGIDEV2 for building our web
applications. In this particular program, I have an SQL statement that
inserts a large amount of data into a TEMP table and it runs in under 4
seconds. However, reading through the temp table and building the HTML
page takes over a minute. FYI, the result is a 122 printed web page.
Typically, a user wouldn't be asking for this large amount of data,
however, the user is requesting to have this capability.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve the speed? Can anyone
point
me in any direction?
