You will start out with a bad page from Dreamweaver
and make it worse with RPG-CGI.

Ironically Dreamweaver is a drag and drop WYSIWYG editor, including property sheets, and code-complete prompting.

I only insert two (2) things in an HTML page to interface with an RPG program. <RECORD> and {{FIELD}} delimeters. Nothing more.
How do you interface with an input field? How do you tell it its length? How do you specify numeric editing? How do you change its class when it is in error? Where do the error messages display?

How do you create a dropdown? A checkbox? A combo? A radio button? How do you initialize the state of these things based on dynamic data?

How do you specify an AJAX tag? How do you define what gets updated?

How do you define the text for a button? How do you specify the tooltip text for an widget? How do you specify the URL for an image?

How do you specify classes for columns? And rows? How do you change the class for a table cell based on the data?

And these are the easy questions.

I understand that there's some satisfaction in using "advanced" tooling to generate, generate, generate, but it's overkill in my mind. I prefer to keep things simple.
It's easy to keep things simple when your interface is simple. It's a lot harder when the interface gets complex.
