authentication mechanism ... I don't think it's aware of the user
id that is running the web server.

Could you post the code you are using to retrieve the REMOTE_USER
environment variable?


I'd also like to see the URL being used to call the application as well as
more of the config that shows what logical dir is being mapped to your CGI
library.
