I prefer the moniker: quasi-strategic. Has a nice ring to it, I think.

Really though, strategic is such an over-used term at IBM. What is the
opposite term I hear from the IBM'ers?

STABILIZED.

Ain't it a darn shame when something is soooooo good and becomes STABLE,
it is no longer STRATEGIC. (Bug eyed George Carlin impression, here)

Then there is DEPRECATED. Still shaking my head on that one. We all
saw Office Vision get DEPRECATED. And the DEPRECATION of the S/36
environment was almost as exaggerated as Samuel Clemens obituary! Last
I checked, you can still run an S/36 environment on V6R1. IBM tries to
remain loyal to the people...and the ISV...

What's in a name?

Regards,

Mike

[Jeff] What if IBM abandons it someday?
[Jon] EGL is a strategic product for IBM.

Oh gods... run screaming. It's STRATEGIC! It must be DOOMED. Don't
agree? Just as Dr. Frank.
