Dave,

You can call DB2WWW from a command line. We actually do this to
generate web pages that are based upon data from a database, but don't
change very much. But that's not a very frequent usage. You'll want
to integrate DB2WWW with your web server. We have a CL program called
NETDATA in a library called EXLAWEB that calls DB2WWW. We use the
following directive in our httpd.conf file:

ScriptAlias /cgi-dta /qsys.lib/exlaweb.lib/netdata.pgm

So any URL that looks like http://www.estes-express.com/cgi-dta/...
will be processed by DB2WWW (which is called by Net.Data).

Vern,

Can I just Call DB2WWW from a command line for now? If so, can't I CALL DB2WWW from REXX?

Not sure whether DB2WWW is a CL program - doesn't matter - Nathan is following the suggestion that you write a CL that has only one task - call DB2WWW - I believe you can even call the one in QHTTPSVR.

It's in the books - also, I don't remember whether library QSYSCGI exists - I would not create it with a Q in front - those can be problematic cuz they can be considered to be system libraries. IIRC.

Program there. It seems DB2WWW is a CL PGM, correct? The CL is in the
QSYSCGI library by itself. I need to look more and let you know.

Net.Data is part of the HTTP server product, which is based on Apache.
Make sure it's installed. GO LICPGM, Option 10:

5722DG1 *COMPATIBLE IBM HTTP Server for i5/OS

Copy program DB2WWW.PGM from library QHTTPSVR to QSYSCGI if it's not
already there.

Add HTTP server configuration directives and restart your HTTP Server.
I showed my configuration directives in a message last week.

Create a CL wrapper around DB2WWW.PGM. I showed the CL code in a
message last week.

Write your first macro and save it in macro directory. For example:

%HTML(hello) {

Hello World From Net.Data

%}

Point your browser to the macro:

http://www.radile.com/db2www/hello.dtw/hello
