If it is trivial in .NET it is most likely because it is
supported by the runtime libraries.

Not in the CLR directly, but yes, the FCL has native support for this and that's why it's trivial. There is sooooo much written in the FCL that many things are trivial, unfortunately there's soooo much in the FCL that knowing what's there is non-trivial :-)
