I have recompiled most of my system (doesn't take long) but realised that I
still use a two or three old CLE and RPG programs which, on the basis that,
if it ain't broke, don't fix it, I haven't changed in years. So they didn't
have activation groups and I think that this was the cause of my problem. I
will now have to convert them to ILE and then try again. This shouldn't be
a problem but I can foresee problems on returning to the initial program
that sets Commitment control as I think that when the CGI program returns
(without use of LR), it goes up the program stack and the initial program
may wish to end commitment control, as in the old version, this is what I
wanted to happen when RPP and MAIN ended, with LR on.. I will report when I
have done this on whether the change was successful.

Many thanks to everyone for their help.

Nathan

You are correct - there is a timeout but the default is quite long and I
don't really want to "never end" - 20 minutes is plenty.

Therefore, if I overcome my problems with activation groups, the
program MAIN will be running as a never ending program ...

I seem to recall IBM's persistent CGI interface having a connection timeout
value. You might double check if you need 'never ending'.

Nathan.
