So following your example, if you have % , & , - , _ , and @: how you will
handle that if any of them appear in column ESDESC?

Also another question: this will simply allow the value to be displayed
without errors? What if I need to do a link over ESDESC that will point
to another SQL command that will list some other detail: will the value
stays with the special character in question, or is it "replaced" by
anything.

I am sorry, I do not visualize it very well I guess...
