I did some informal measurements the other day running natively but calling the prestarted jobs, not running in thread.

For a "return todays date" program we have around 7ms, and for a full fledged Cobol component needing to open files and other stuff but not doing any work we have around 40 ms. I _believe_ I have had smaller turn around times for repeated program calls from my PC. These are measured from the Java program.

Our development machine is set to automatically adjust to workloads, and is as far as I know not tuned in any way for this.

We have been looking on this to get an idea of expected web service response times.
