As Kelly said, the Studio is based on Eclipse - if you go to the help for the Studio, there is likely to be a section just on using Eclipse - that has the explanation of perspectives and views, which is not about Zend, only about Eclipse.

You might also google on eclipse tutorial and see what is out there on how to use it - it's all the same for all things based on Eclipse.

Thanks to everyone who has been responding to my cries for help. I now have a server running, and can put simple PHP scripts in the IFS and they run.
I am now trying to find my way around Zend Studio. I have no experience whatsoever with this type of software - things like workspaces, views, perspectives, mean nothing to me. The Quick Start in the "5 ways to get started with Zend Studio" isn't very helpful to me. What i am looking for is something that says how to use the editor, how to run the script without saving it to the server and running it through a browser, how to debug. Examples and screen shots would be great! Also something that gets me started on what the more important tabs, panes, buttons, etc do (not a firehose of every single item that assumes that I know why such a feature would be useful).
