The core was based on extensions to CGIDEV2 I believe but most of
that has now been rewritten.
My first interpretation of your statement was that they were rewriting CGIDEV2. But after looking at the code it becomes more clear that CGIDEV2 is still intact. It's just that Henrik evidently wrote thin procedure wrappers around CGIDEV2 procedures. setExtVar() is a thin wrapper around updHTMLVar2(), getExtVar() is a thin wrapper around zhbGetVar(), and echo() is a thin wrapper around wrtNoSection(), for example.
My biggest question is whether IBM will go along with them distributing CGIDEV2 with powerExt? On one hand IBM provides a free license to CGIDEV2, and source. But maintains their exclusive copyright statements in source headers on the other.
But if IBM lets anyone modify & distribute their product & source, they can effectively say goodbye to their copyrights.
Nathan.
