Not conceptually, of course. Browsers render UI elements from streams. When you mentioned your work on a Java client, that triggered my recollection of how Swing components may be instantiated and rendered dynamically. I just never pictured doing something like that in Flex.

You make it sound more feasible from a technical standpoint. From a commercial standpoint, it still seems to make more sense to leave WYSIWYG editing paired with "rendering" engines in the hands of Mozilla, Microsoft, Google, Adobe, and IBM.
