The .NET machine has lots and lots more CPU power than the IBM i (unless 
you have had very deep pockets).

This essentially allows you to service more clients with a front-end if 
there is any kind of complexity involved.

Also I found some time ago that the same program running on my PC 
accessing AS/400 resources completed _faster_ than the same program 
running on the i.    We want the Java stuff on the i for logistic and 
political reasons, but for others the benefit is too small.  I think :)
