The discussion moved to emulating the behavior of Excel and other worksheets, where both "header" columns and header rows can be locked at the same time - very common, and I bet Google Docs does it already, too. Don't quote me - just guessing!

The question that just arose - does the prototype have all the data on one screen? I'm thinking of the need to scroll the column headings along with the data when doing a horizontal scroll, and the same with the row headings when doing a vertical scroll.

I don't think it is nice to have. I think this way to present a data grid would be very sellable to customers.

Just think this as a presentation of an AS/400 file (field names on top, keys on left)...
