I'd suggest looking at the the following JavaScript date reference:
http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/jsref_obj_date.asp
var d = new Date();
Then evoke d.xxxxx() methods to return the date in the format you want.

Subject: [WEB400] Starting w/ DTW_DATE field
I have an initial screen where a date must be entered OR picked from the JavaScript jscalendar.
How do I force that input field to have today's date automatically 'defaulted in' when the screen first displays?
