At this point, with the ginormous mountain of Java code out there, replacing Java would be about as difficult as replacing COBOL.

Does anybody know if IBM has issued formal statements of how they are
surviving the Oracle purchase of Java/Sun? And then of course there is the
Oracle suit against Google's Android usage of Java:

I do enough Java programming that I am definitely concerned about where
things are going. Not that another language couldn't just pop up and start
taking ownership.
