While I was at the COMMON conference in Italy I saw a great presentation by a PHP developer who was using Sencha Touch, PHP and DB2 on IBM i. Not sure if the slides are available somewhere. ExtJS is some fairly complex stuff so not for the faint of heart. Pretty cool stuff, though.

FYI...More momentum for using Mobile Web applications versus
native phone apps:
That shows the forward momentum of HTML5, Sencha Touch, and mobile browser applications. But I don't get the references to the AT&T App Store, or how it might fit into the equation. I also question billing for applications through the AT&T phone bill. Based on comments at the blog site, others evidently share my lack of understanding. The AT&T developer site didn't answer my questions either. AT&T doesn't appear to have a cohesive message. It's all across the board.
The AT&T App Store appears to be geared toward native phone apps; primarily Android and Windows, as opposed to browser based apps. Browser apps are primarily server based, and require the resources of servers. It's not like you're going to find those types of resources on a mobile device.
