Dean,

I agree but a few points:

1.  With the push for browser based applications, most desktop (fat 
client) development has been marginalized.

2.  Android has 72% market share for mobile and of course Java is the 
development environment for Android.  We will see many android based 
devices for things like RFID readers, vehicle navigation, etc.

but there are many more players in the field.  It will never be as 
dominant as it once was, but it's still popular.
