There are a couple of issues with using a dedicated PC to do the IFS file 
scanning.
1)  Setting up the shares.
2)  Performance issues.
3)  In V5R3 they've added additional function to the IFS to integrate 
better with packages like Byteware.  It will automatically scan upon a 
change in the IFS file.

Years ago we tried the PC share method.  And that was when we were not 
near the IFS users we are now.  Took about a day to scan the whole IFS. 
Even if you restarted it upon completion a virus could have gotten in. 
That's what has me excited about the V5R3 capability.  Also, that was with 
an archaic version of Client Access where you didn't have to set up the 
shares beforehand.
