We run all kinds of programs via the command line or creating a Program entries in the NAB. It is easier to manage and schedule from the NAB, than in the notes.ini I recommend running compact with the -B switch for file size reduction. True. Generally it should be relatively safe to run this on mail DBs which may be the culprit. One other thing - I remember that one time my DASD was shooting up and I noticed that my HTTP log files were the culprit. The original poster may want to check for the DOMLOG.NSF file size as well as looking to see if he has the logging going to text files in a separate directory. Ah yes. One serious nasty on our system are files in the data/IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT directory. Cleaning out old nsd*.nsd files in the data directory. But if you have lots of those you have other issues :-( I also have numerous *.tmp to figure out what they're for. Various lpt* files from Trend Micro's Scan Mail for Lotus Notes. Which may be in different directories depending on which version of Trend you are running.
