We use both Mimix and Notes clustering. Never do the two applications
intertwine. We strictly use Mimix for DB2 type stuff and for IFS stuff
but never IFS stuff that is used by Domino. We *OMIT those directories
from Mimix. (Actually we only selectively include various IFS
directories.)

Once you set up clustering it works pretty good. The ongoing maintenance
issue is making sure that if one creates a database on SERVER1 that you
create a replica on SERVER2, of that same cluster. To ensure that we do
so we are using software from
http://www.akornn.com/web/newhome.nsf/main/Software
We have written our own and are transitioning away from the Akornn
solution. Why? Well, two reasons: One, we are having our custom
solution do some other stuff also. Two, Akornn relies upon some Domino
APIs that we always have to remember to reload after a Domino version
upgrade. I will say that we tried to write our own years ago and gave it
up. We've since gained development knowledge (and a developer or two).
So, if you're too busy with other stuff I wouldn't say not to use their
stuff.
If someone has a "Hey Rob, why don't you use this cool thing from
Administrator that runs completely hands off?" type of solution then I'm
all ears.
