I should have listed that I think calendar is one of the things they also want on their Blackberry and that I don't really want to open the firewall for IMAP. Never taken the time either to make sure if you have to open SMTP for sending or if it is a capability of IMAP. They won't like POP as they want to keep emails in their mail files and have some folders with 100s of messages.

I can hear the screams that they shouldn't be keeping that much in the mail files and should at least be using an archive file, but they have saved $k by being able to quickly retrieve an _old_ moldy email to prove their point. And they are C-level.

You can use POP/IMAP to access Domino mail. But you have to open the port
on the firewall and enable the service on Domino. You also have to enable
the Domino mail file for IMAP by issuing the following command:

load convert -e maildirectory\mailfilename

They can send and receive mail as if they are connected to your network.
But there won't be any calendar integration.
