I would suggest making the java code a server function that runs all the 
time waiting for requests to generate the QR code.  That way the java 
startup penalty isn't incurred every time it's invoked.

For a single function server like that, I would suggest using a data 
queue to listen for requests and a thread pool to manage the work load.
