Don, In a message dated 97-06-20 02:21:48 EDT, you write: > How can we only allow a user to see THEIR list of OUTQ's and and only > WRKWTR functions of the writers that are specifically assigned to them. > AND, I don't want them to be able to see/view/manipulate someone's > SPLF's...and I don't want to create a scenerio when I'm making more > secadmin concerns for my sysopr than they have time for...which right now > isn't a whole heckuva whole lot.... Well, until you put it that way, I was about to suggest disallowing WRKOUTQ and making them use WRKSPLF. You could authorize certain users or group profiles to access only certain writers and outq's, but this is a maintenance nightmare in a large environment unless you have a person dedicated to security. Someone mentioned a NEWS/400 article on the subject a while back, but I don't remember the issue number. At my current (primary) client, we have an operations staff to start writers and answer forms change and alignment messages. We also have a package from a company called "Queue Magic" that distributes reports to the appropriate printers on the proper form with the right number of copies -- and to both remote sites and the ES/9000. You can reach Mike McCormack of Queue Magic at (803) 286-3679 or (803) 327-3314, or E-Mail Mike.McCormack@smtpgwy.springs.com. If you're interested, tell him I sent you! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * This is the Midrange System Mailing List!
