It's very possible and done thousands of times every day. Here's a
sketch of what you need to do:

1. Configure TCP/IP on the AS/400. You can use the CFGTCP command to get
to the basic set of options.
2. Configure the Telnet server on the AS/400 (CFGTCP, option 20, etc.).
3. Start the Telnet server (strtcpsvr *telnet)
4. You might want to change the setting for QAUTOVRT option to allow a
number of terminal sessions.
5. Get a good Telnet client and you are ready to go. Client Access,
Rumba, Attachmate, and many others have Telnet clients. You really want
the TN5250 flavor of Telnet. It maps keys much better than standard
VT100 emulation.
