Bill,

AFAIK, you don't need to wait for V4R2. I'm expecting an S30 to be delivered 
next week with V4R2 on it. It will have native support for Java, available 
native Domino, and a bunch of other goodies, but there is also an additional 
upgrade charge because some of the program products that were carried over from 
V3R7 to V4R1 without change are now at V4R2 and are chargeable.

You can run a basic telnet session from Windows Terminal if you like. I've done 
it. It's not pretty, but it does work. CA TN5250 is a piece of cake to set up. 
Very reliable and low impact on system resources. At V4R2, you're supposed to 
be able to assign device names too.
