Or you REALLY want to learn it and use it and DO when you can, but when there is
a gun to your head to get something done (especially when maintaining existing
code) I could see this being a REAL issue. I.E. "all that needed to be done was
change, blah, blah, blah, WHY did you spend "x amount" of time doing THAT...? "
Short sided I agree, but reality in many shops I'm sure... Or "so and so 
modified
this program last and LOOK at it, everything has moved around and there is
different "stuff" in here and I can't work on it..."

There has GOT to be a real effort and PLAN put forth in shops to do this and
unfortunately management has to UNDERSTAND the issues and reasons in order to 
not
play devils advocate cost/time-wise...

I'm NOT saying don't do it, and we/I HAVE the opportunity to do this where I am,
I just know the situation others are probably in from folks I know at other 
shops
!
