> Wasn't all of this timed to match the "big push" for OS/2 which was >introduced to beat Windows 93^H^H94^H^H95 to market? My remembrance was that >it all relied upon a pure IBM solution and potential buyers just yawned and >stayed up all night in August of 1995 so they could have the "real" solution, >Windows 95? you are correct! in fact, we had to do some serious thinking about that! for p/c's we used windows, not because we loved bill gates, but it was where the market was headed. our good buddy mark kliene at mccoy tried to get us to go to os/2, but since we are a software vendor, we felt we needed to stay with windows. but i did feel some pangs of envy when mark would brag to us that his p/c's didn't crash. for a client server solution, we eventually chose asna's visual rpg, because at the time, ibm's required os/2. deep down os/2 would have been my choice, but we decided to stay with the market. and now os/2 has been pitched. but on reflection, my opinion is that ibm blew it with their os/2 warp add campaign. if i didn't know what it was, i would have thought it was a video game! they should have targeted a more adult audience, and stressed how it didn't crash, etc. nj
