Pat, I saw this YEARS ago on our S/34 or S/38 (forget which one now - see, I said YEARS ago <BG>) and a 5250 terminal. It was sitting on TOP of the computer and had fluorescent directly above it. The CE turned the lights off and all was fine ! Something to do with the refresh or cycle rate from the lights getting in synch with the terminal... Have to admit that was the ONLY time I have ever seen this unless a user had a fan near a monitor. I would try calling IBM. We had some strange things going on with 3487's several years ago and placed a service call (can't remember what it was now) and the "display" folks called us back and had us enter some key sequences that actually fixed the problems !
