Simon,

Having never writen a stored procedure from within MS Query I am not sure if it 
will work but I will give it a try just to see.  

By placing it into the SQL I would have to edit the statement each day I want 
to run it which is harder that what I do today but may spark another idea.

First the Caveat:  I don't use MS products at all.

CALL QCMDEXC ("OVRDBF FILE(PERFDATA) TOFILE(PERFDATA) TOMBR(CURRENT)",

SELECT * FROM PERFDATA

Or is the real problem that MS Query won't let you control the SQL statements 
so you don't get a chance to 
run the override?
