I'm currently using NS/Elite for emulation, and the keyboard does lock, as
it would on a dumb terminal. The message 'Cursor in protected area of
display.' appears on line 24 and disappears when you unlock the keyboard
with the left Ctrl key. I think this is normal behaviour and is OK. Skilled
5250 users should not experience this lock excessively, but I can see how it
might be a big problem for a user accustomed to a different type of
terminal. I'd agree with the others who've said that educating the users in
correct 5250 screen navigation is the answer.

I've mentioned this before, and I don't want to start another keyboard rant
thread (honest), but my biggest problem with keyboard locking under 5250
emulation is with the new keyboards. It's too easy to hit that miserable
Windoze key by mistake instead of the Ctrl key, and that not only slows you
down tremendously but is also very distracting.

Rajeev, I misunderstood the problem you describe.  I also can't duplicate
the problem.  You say the user uses an arrow key and gets off the input
capable field and then types a letter and the keyboard locks up?  I can
understand it not accepting the key stroke, but what does "keyboard lock"
mean?  I just tried it and the keyboard didn't lock.  I tried it both with
Client Access Express and with OS/2 Communications.
